“That Light’s Yours” brings interactive play to the streets

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – April 9, 2025 Game designer and artist Angel Rodriguez Lozada is bringing interactive play to the streets with “That Light’s Yours,” designed specifically for the ArtCube Gallery. As the next artist in Interstruct’s ongoing series of ArtCube takeovers, Rodriguez Lozada uses a depth camera and the ArtCube’s integrated audio-video system to create a responsive, immersive experience that reacts to passersby.

“That Light’s Yours” invites participation. As people move around or make noise near the ArtCube, their presence triggers changes in light and sound. The installation engages viewers in real time—unexpected flashes of light or shifting audio cues draw people in and hold their attention, turning a casual moment on the sidewalk into a shared sensory experience. The artist hopes to surprise and delight those who encounter the work, offering a glimpse of how games can extend beyond screens and into public space. More about Rodriquez Lozada’s company, 302 Interactive.

The public is invited to opening night on Thursday, April 17, from 6 to 8:30 p.m. as part of Third Thursday Orlando. The event will take place at Interstruct, located at 814 W. Church Street, with an artist talk scheduled for 7:15 p.m. Free onsite parking is available, as well as a complimentary shuttle from CityArts at the corner of Pine and Magnolia. All are welcome.

The installation will remain on display 24/7 through mid-June at Interstruct on the West Church Corridor. Best viewed from dusk to dawn.
