Interstruct Design + Build celebrates 25 years with a creative
CONNECT on Orlando’s West Church Corridor
ORLANDO, Fla. — Interstruct Design + Build celebrates its 25th anniversary on Thursday, Oct. 15, with CONNECT, a participatory creative experience at its headquarters on the West Church Corridor in Parramore. Working artist studios inside U-Haul trucks, hands-on art and live music transform the front yard at 814 W. Church St. into a one-night-only invitation to create, gather and move.
Produced by Assemblage, the Orlando creative studio and wine producer, the event is free and open to the public from 5–9 p.m. during Third Thursday Orlando. Free offsite parking and a complimentary roundtrip shuttle from CityArts at Pine and Magnolia are available.
Four U-Hauls pop up as working artist studios
Parramore Arts rolls out a new concept for its U-Haul pop-ups: four trucks transformed into working studios where guests join artists in the creative process.
- Florida Claydies turns a U-Haul into a ceramics studio with live pottery-wheel demonstrations and hands-on clay activities.
- SpaceStation Studio runs a pop-up print shop where guests pull their own screen print and leave wearing a shirt they helped make.
- Flowers by 4Roots, led by former Disney florist Haley Hine, creates a walk-in garden where guests make pressed-flower artwork.
- Not Another Film Lab, founded by Ashley Gutierrez, brings the tactile process of analog photography and photographic prints into the mix.
A collection of creative collaborators keeps the making going throughout the front yard. StickerPrintGo partners with nonprofit ArtReach Orlando to print select youth artwork as collectible stickers live on-site, alongside a pop-up gallery of youth artwork for sale. Fashion designer Christian Perry creates one-of-a-kind pieces from upcycled materials and collaborates with The Desire Foundation on a special bag for Parramore Market. Rugged Perspective brings live rug tufting into view, while Orlando poet and vinyl enthusiast Myles Yates joins Kyle Lyon of French Press Lounge for a listening experience featuring selections from their personal record collections, with records available for purchase.
At the entrance, The Corridor Project brings past works from the Corridor Art Trail into a setting where guests can experience them up close.
Tony Piloseno, founder of Tonester and a new West Church Corridor neighbor, joins CONNECT to unveil Interstruct Orange, a paint collaboration celebrating Interstruct’s signature color. With Tonester’s headquarters now in Parramore, the collaboration brings together two creative businesses shaping the neighborhood they share.
Orlando artist Dawrby creates his signature minimalist portraits of guests live on Interstruct Orange paint swatches. Photographer, artist and Keepsake Services founder Bryson Rogers brings his signature photo booth experience, offering another way to capture the evening and the people sharing it.
Young Parramore artists bring Good in the Hood to ArtCube
ArtCube, Parramore Arts’ street-facing shipping container micro-gallery, currently features Good in the Hood, an installation showcasing young artists from New Image Youth Center.
Artist and educator Njeri Kinuthia led summer workshops funded by United Arts of Central Florida, giving NIYC students the materials and freedom to represent what is good in their neighborhood. Their artwork fills the installation, with every student’s work represented. Read the full story behind the installation.
Food, wine and music bring people together
Chef Berman “Roc” Rodriguez, founder of Orlando’s Burrito Boys, serves a tasting menu showcasing his Latin-Asian approach to cooking as part of the front-yard creative experience. In the courtyard, Twisted Palm Orlando returns for CONNECT’s gathering of clients, colleagues and partners.
Assemblage brings its belief that good things happen when people come together to CONNECT as the event’s creative producer and wine collaborator. Alongside curating the evening’s artists and experiences, the Orlando creative studio and wine producer unveils INFILL, a custom wine created for Interstruct that celebrates the possibility of building something new from what’s already here.
Music unfolds throughout the evening with opening DJ JSilva and West Church Corridor resident krazydazie. Dizzlephunk, MC for Creative City Project’s IMMERSE Fest, serves as the evening’s MC and joins hip-hop artist CreativAngel for music and live crowd interaction. Orlando Vocal Collective delivers a special performance, while the Chelz Danielle Quartet brings neo-soul, R&B and jazz to the Interstruct courtyard.
25 years of Interstruct and an ongoing commitment to Parramore
“Here in Orlando, we have the opportunity to build place, to be part of something special, something bigger than us. Our commitment to the West Church Corridor allows us to be thoughtful about what we design, build and leave behind. Through CONNECT and Parramore Arts, we bring together our industry partners, the creative community and our neighbors to make new connections and see what we can create together,” said Ryan Young, AIA, CEO of Interstruct Design + Build.
Founded in Orlando in 2001 by Young and Rich Monroe, Interstruct Design + Build is an architect-led design + build firm with offices in Orlando, Tampa and Charlotte. The company brings its streamlined architecture, construction and real estate expertise to client projects focused on healthcare, hospitality, industrial, corporate interiors and adaptive reuse.
Since establishing its headquarters in Parramore in 2020, Interstruct has connected its investment on the West Church Corridor with ongoing contributions to the surrounding community. Its signature work with The Desire Foundation includes Project 814 and the founding of Parramore Market, a community choice pantry. Proximity creates opportunities to connect with neighboring organizations, share resources and develop projects together.
Through Parramore Arts, Interstruct also makes space for artists and free public art, including ArtCube, U-Haul pop-ups, billboard art, murals and more.
These efforts reflect Interstruct’s approach to regenerative development: contributing to the community through its real estate, relationships, professional licenses, resources and creative investment.
