ArtCube Debuts RECONSTRUCTION + 2nd U-Haul Pop-up at Third Thursday Orlando
ArtCube debuts RECONSTRUCTION by Njeri Kinuthia as Parramore Arts alumni transform U-Haul trucks into pop-up galleries for Third Thursday Orlando on the West Church Corridor.
RECONSTRUCTION by Njeri Kinuthia
On view in ArtCube through March 2026
Debuting in ArtCube, RECONSTRUCTION is a multimedia installation that examines identity, process, and self-definition. The work centers on a self-portrait that evolves through deliberate acts of fragmentation and rebuilding.
Kinuthia begins by painting her portrait in acrylic on fabric. She then cuts the image into shards resembling broken glass before reconstructing it through textiles. The process—deconstruction followed by repair—is documented through sequential imagery and presented as a looping stop-motion video, emphasizing that the act of making is as significant as the finished work.
Kinuthia is an assistant professor in the School of Visual Arts and Design at the University of Central Florida. RECONSTRUCTION will remain on view in ArtCube through March as part of Parramore Arts’ 24/7 public art experience.
