Agave Azul O-Town West
Interstruct is pleased to share completion of Agave Azul Cocina Mexicana, a 5,000 SF restaurant in O-Town West.
The family-owned restaurant company wanted something completely different for their new flagship restaurant, one of seven Florida locations. They commissioned Interstruct Design + Build to create a vision for the space that recalled the authentic coastal regions of Mexico, drawing on the owner’s personal photos, taken on his travels through Mexico, as inspiration.
The architectural design reimagined the shell space with domed ceilings, tongue and groove woodwork and an open waterfall. High-end finishes appear on every surface, from patterned tilework to textured Venetian plaster, and banquette seating was incorporated to mesh with custom fabricated trees. The dramatic flooring ties everything together with a unique, intricately colored concrete overlay that recalls terrazzo.
The bar is a design statement and custom feature, with rolled steel in a dramatic curvilinear shape. Breeze block on either side the dowel-supported shelving bar extends to the exterior patio. The entrance was shifted to allow for three new garage-style windows that enable indoor-outdoor seating areas. An exterior canopy hides the misting units, designed to withstand all weather conditions, from summer heat to dramatic winter temperature drops.
The finished restaurant is unlike any of Agave Azul’s other restaurant, creating a new signature that can take them into their next chapter of expansion.
